Staying in Famara
Our private accommodation is all based in the small and tranquil village of Caleta de Famara. This is not a resort and is thought of as one of the loveliest and unchanged old fishing villages in Lanzarote. The village is located in the Parque Natural Del Archipielago Chinijo. This park aims to preserve the amazing beauty and heritage of this area. You will find some of the most stunning scenery in the Canaries right on your doorstep.
These apartments are only available to those people taking a surfing course with us, however we are quite happy for non-surfing group or family members to use them.
All private apartments are for your use or your group or your family only. We do not offer shared apartments. All apartments have a living room, fitted kitchen, one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with 2 single beds and bathroom. Larger apartments are available on request.
These private apartments are well maintained and all are a short walking distance from shops and restaurants. They are all situated a short walk from the beach and sea.
Read more about the apartments here.
Some apartments have WiFi and all the nearby cafe’s , bars and restaurants have WIFI and all flight tickets can be printed at our office.
Coming to us from your accommodation
Many of our clients take the option to drive over to us by rental car, and we will be happy to send directions if you tell us where you are staying. The island is small, well signposted and easy to drive. We are normally twenty minutes drive from most accommodation. You may have also found your own accommodation in the village of Famara.
Start times may also vary due to conditions but we always notify in advance of any changes.
Clients must inform us by email or text if they are unable to attend on any booked day the evening before or by 8.30am.

Your schedule at the beach
Our schedule is a simple one with all the beach time being a mixture of in water surf teaching and coaching and on the beach feedback, technique drills and micro lectures. The start time can vary due to conditions but we will always inform you in advance of any changes.
09:30 – 12:00
Morning recap, warm up, surf and beach session.
12:00- 12:45
Lunch break and lecture. (We ask you to bring your own light picnic lunch).
12:45-14:15
Afternoon Surf and beach session.
14:15-14:30
Coaching debrief and warm down.
All courses normally include a rest day taken after the first two days. Of course you are only paying for your coaching days. For example – a 5 day course is 2 days surfing, 1 days rest and 3 days surfing. But we are happy to fit in with your own personal schedule.
Surfboard and wetsuit hire on rest days
On your rest days with Surf School Lanzarote you may wish to hire surfboards and wetsuits and these are available every day between the hours of 10:30 and 16:00. Hire charges for board plus wetsuit when you are not on the course are € 15 per day. However we often feel your rest days should be just that, rest days!
What to Bring
You will need to bring a day bag or small back pack to carry good quality 30 + minimum sun block , at least a litre of water, a light picnic lunch and a towel to take down to the beach with you. Beach shoes / slaps are advised but not vital. In winter months a sweat shirt can help for the lunch period . We are able to take care of any valuables, cameras ect that you want to bring. You won’t need money but of course you can always buy our SSL T shirts and Hoodie’s.

Airports and Flights
There is only one airport on the island and we advise you to shop around for the best flights of course. This page of our site can provide some help but there is a vast range of option out there. Don’t forget you can tailor your arrival and departure days to suit you. We are open to all options.
Transfers from the Airport
We do not offer transfers from the airport as it is illegal to do so unless you are a registered bus or taxi company. Our clients normally make their way to us by our excellent government controlled taxi service which is 35 Euros, and there are always taxis waiting at the airport. Clients also make their way to us using hire car and we are happy to send you directions. Please do not try to take the very slow and over complicated bus service, it may take longer than your flight to get to us.
Renting a car?
It’s best to refer back to our website for a list of some of the rental car companies that we know and like the best. Try to pre-book in advance in the busy holiday seasons. Please don’t use local maps or Sat navigation as often, on our island, they are inaccurate and always ask us for the correct directions.
Sending your Booking Form
Booking Forms should be submitted with all the details we need filled in, only when you have your flights booked. The form is simple but do take you time to complete it. Once that form is sent we will use it as the email contact for all future correspondence.
